As part of a series of major academic events marking the twentieth anniversary of CEU, the Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology and the Department of History are hosting an International Interdisciplinary Workshop Competing and complementary visions of the social: history, sociology, anthropology.

The workshop touches upon the discussion of interdisciplinarity and the recent crisis of the social, addressing such issues as the identity and boundary of disciplines, the nature of proof, the tools of critical inquiry, the language and vocabulary of social history, and the comparability of research across disciplines and epistemic communities.
